Phyllanthus fluitans - Red Root Floater
Originally from the Amazon river basin. The leaves vary in colour depending on conditions, from bright green to dark. It has small white flowers in good lighting & low nitrogen levels. In warm conditions it can spread significantly more than 30cm in a season but it is not hardy.
Not hardy. Remove decaying plants after first frost. To overwinter, place in shallow water with a little soil for the roots to grow into. Keep in good light at above 10 °c. Return to the pond late April - May when there is no risk of frost.
