Peonies are a garden staple and will last a lifetime in the garden! They get better and bigger with age so are always worth the investment!
They also make beautiful cut flower displays too!
Grow peonies in a sunny or semi shaded position on fertile, moist, well drained soil. Peony plants prefer a heavy soil that is rich in organic matter. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost prior to planting.
This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.
