Saxifraga 'Dancing Pixies Twinkie' (Woodland Saxifrage) – Autumn Flowering Evergreen Perennial (1.5L Pot)
Saxifrage 'Dancing Pixies Twinkie' is a compact, evergreen woodland saxifrage that lights up shady corners with sprays of starry pink flowers in late summer and autumn, when many shade plants have finished.
It forms a low, spreading clump of rounded, scalloped leaves that makes good ground cover. The slender flower stems rise above the foliage, and the leaves stay on the plant through winter, though a hard frost can damage them.
It is hardy in most of Britain but does best in a sheltered spot out of cold wind. Plant it in partial or full shade in moist but well drained, humus rich soil, and it will also grow happily in a patio container, a rock garden, a border edge or under shrubs. It scorches and flags in hot sun or dry soil, so keep it watered in a dry spell. Slugs, aphids and vine weevil in pots are the usual problems. It is supplied in a 1.5 litre pot.
