Celosia 'Kimono Mix' (Cockscomb) – Dwarf Summer Bedding (12 x 10.5cm Pots)
Celosia Kimono Mix, often called cockscomb, gives bold, tropical-looking colour all summer, with feathery plumes in red, orange, yellow, pink and purple. You receive 12 plants, each in its own 10.5cm pot.
This is a compact, dwarf celosia (Celosia argentea) that makes a bushy, upright plant topped with soft plumes from June to October. The leaves are mid-green and lance-shaped. The plumes also make good cut flowers. Colours are mixed and the exact balance will vary from pack to pack.
Celosia is tender, so plant it out once nights are reliably warm. Give it a sunny spot sheltered from strong winds and heavy rain, which can batter the plumes. It grows well in borders, raised beds, window boxes and patio containers, in well-drained, fertile soil or good multipurpose compost.
Water regularly in dry spells without letting the roots sit in water, and feed every two weeks with a balanced liquid fertiliser to keep the flowers coming.
